Turner Padget Upgrades Outdated IT Infrastructure
Turner Padget is one of South Carolina’s oldest and largest law firms, with five locations throughout the state and two additional sites in Georgia. Recently, the firm’s director of information technology, Andrew Werner, posted a review of Scale Computing HC3 on the TrustRadius site, giving it a score of 10 out of 10.
According to Werner, Turner Padget implemented an HC3/Lenovo solution across the entire firm, replacing their aging legacy infrastructure. The HC3 solution was deployed in the firm’s primary data center, its disaster recovery site, and in smaller remote clusters at each of its offices, meaning their servers and back end systems are now 100% on HC3.
For its data center and DR infrastructure replacement project, Turner Padget evaluated Scale Computing HC3 and three other competitive platforms, with cost and ease of management being the top two factors in their decision-making process. In the end, they went with HC3, calling it an “easy choice.” According to Werner, the decision was primarily due to its five-year TCO being 50% less than the competing solutions. He also noted that the initial investment was 10-20% cheaper than the others.
Scale Computing HC3 is a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution combining servers, storage, and virtualization into a single solution to make IT infrastructure easier for organizations of every size. Using an appliance-based approach to virtualization, our HC3 infrastructure solution is faster to deploy, easier to manage, and allows you to scale seamlessly as your organization grows.
With seven locations at the edge of the network, Werner gives HC3 high marks for its ease of management, noting how beneficial it is, as a smaller sized company, to have the entire IT department be able to manage clusters and virtual machines with ease. On top of that, he says they no longer need to have a VMware specialist on staff. Werner says those benefits, along with the increase in Turner Padget’s server performance, add “unquantifiable ROI” to the purchase.
The HC3 all-in-one appliance architecture makes it easy to deploy fully integrated, highly available virtualization out of the box. HCI is rapidly replacing traditional virtualization infrastructure for primary data center computing, edge computing, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The platform combines self-healing with intelligent automation, empowering Scale Computing customers to spend less time on infrastructure maintenance and focus on strategic projects to grow their business.
Other benefits of HC3 Werner points to are the ability to manage all clusters from a single pane of glass, the ease with which they can add additional servers or remote clusters, and the ability to scale their environment with different hardware, which he says makes future upgrades easier to plan and budget.
As for Scale Computing’s support, Werner called it “personalized and phenomenal,” saying they always receive responses in a timely manner. He also remarked that they have noticed feature requests regularly end up in software/firmware updates, which he says also increase the ROI of the products.
In the end, Werner calls Scale Computing HC3 “a clear winner” and says he would “100% recommend” it to all his colleagues.
