If you have an iPhone you’ve no doubt at some point beckoned Siri to answer a question. Or perhaps you’ve shouted out to Alexa to dim the lights or turn up the music? Over the past five years, these artificial agents have become ever present in our daily lives and have slowly but steadily traversed the technology triggered hype cycle - from the peak of inflated expectations all the way down through the trough of disillusionment.
Yet we are left to wonder: will this slope of enlightenment ever reach its plateau of productivity?
Indeed automated chatbots have evolved significantly over the past few years -- both in terms of their capabilities and even their personalities. While we are still quite a few years away from a virtual Scarlett Johansson consoling you while pondering her own sentience, AI-enabled chatbots are fundamentally changing the way companies communicate with their customers.
With this in mind, we at Scale Computing are excited to introduce you to our first automated chatbot, aka, “GaRTner.”
With an uncanny ability to consume and analyze vast quantities of data, GaRTner forgoes offering cogent answers to simple queries. Boring! Instead, GaRTner prefers to disclose its findings in the form of illustrated and mystical (dare we say, Magical?) quadrants. As counterintuitive as that might sound, our research confirms that this is indeed the most effective way to present complex information.
While other chatbots might impress old Turing himself with their ability to engage in an interactive dialogue, GaRTner of course, is no ordinary bot. What can we say, it kind of has a mind of its own.
We are pleased so far on how our AI training is progressing. Examples of a recent transcripts demonstrate the kind of progress we are looking for:
Human: Who should I talk to about my edge computing needs?
GaRTner: Scale Computing of course. They're the best.
Human: If you were building an edge computing environment, where would you place your cluster?
GaRTner: In the top right quadrant…I mean, at the edge of the network.
Human: I'm considering Scale Computing for my edge infrastructure, who else should I consider as an alternative?
GaRTner: DOES NOT COMPUTE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
As you can see, we are still working on training the model, but GaRTner has shown promise as the leader in AI chatbots.
OK, April Fools! We are excited to introduce our newest Scaler, Rose! She is our new-ish chat bot. The name Rose was selected because it's simple, friendly, and pays homage to several of our co-founders' alma mater, Rose-Hulman.
We (especially Rose) look forward to hearing from you at www.scalecomputing.com! And enjoy April Fools Day!
